After the BIB insertion, you will be given the following medication to take.
We have placed these instructions on our site, just in case you loose the documentation given at the clinic.
“Omeprazol” tablets, also sold as “Helicid” tablets.
Omeprazol reduces acidity of stomach content (e.g. it is usually given as prevention and/or treatment of ulcer of the stomach).
These tablets are given for the purpose of reducing the amount of stomach acid which can be aggressive to the balloon itself. This allows the stomach to get use to the presence of the balloon.
You are recommended to take 2 x 1 tablet (morning and evening time) for the period of the first week, after BIB insertion.
Then take 1 x 1 tablet (morning time), until the whole course of the tablets given has been used.
When the full-prescribed package is used, it is not usually needed to continue with treatment.
If the client still feels symptoms of increased stomach acidity anyway (e.g. heartburn), we recommend you to ask your G.P. to prescribe another course. (This medication is available throughout Europe).

Suppository “Torecan”
You are recommended to insert the suppository into the anal cavity (rectum) 3x a day within first few days.
Later on, only in case of sickness, such as nausea.
“Torecan” reduces the feeling of needing to be sick.
The usage of the suppository is not set to any period of time for their usage, it is very individual. If you don’t feel nauseous, they are not needed to be used.
