Mandy’s Story ……

Breast Augmentation / Modulation

I had my 1st breast augmentation performed in Brussels.

At the time of my first (and only) consultation in his London office he explained to me about the procedure and what I needed. I told the surgeon how unhappy I was with the ‘look’ of my breasts as they had dropped somewhat and asked for modulation as well as augmentation. However he disagreed that I needed this and ensured me implants would solve my ‘problem’. The surgeon took photos of my breasts that day and gave me a telephone number to ring and arrange an ‘op’ date.

I arrived in Brussels for my surgery on the 15th November before even seeing the surgeon I was asked to pay £ 2,500 I did so, and then waited for the surgeon. He appeared after only a short wait and invited me into a room where we had a short discussion about what was going to happen and to take more photos of my breasts. He gave me some garments to dress into, in preparation of the surgery. I walked into the theatre with a nurse and got on the operating table where I was anaesthetised.

I must add… whilst ‘out cold’ on the table the surgeon went into the waiting room where my friend was and told her the size implants I had requested had not arrived and I could have either small? Or large? My friend said “probably large ones”. (Not really knowing how large) I had originally asked to be about a size‘D’ cup. I was a ‘C’.

It didn’t seem long before I was awake and dressed; we were ushered into a waiting taxi and went to a hotel to stay for one night! I had no more contact with the surgeon in Brussels I was told I would see him a week later in London. So off home to England I went! At first I was pleased with the results, even though I was so much bigger than I originally wanted. But 4 months later March 2006 I realized I had developed capsular contracture (I only knew this because of question asking on internet sites). I contacted the surgeon and he invited me back to London for him to see. He agreed I had capsular contracture and told me I would have to go back to Brussels where he would take out that implant release the capsule, and put it back. I didn’t expect this but I WAS aware that capsular contracture is a very unlucky problem that can occur. Whilst I was with the surgeon and knowing I would be going back I asked him about correcting my flat nipples (not inverted) he said he could do it and the whole cost for removal of capsule and for nipple op it would be £1,800 not including flights and accommodation. So off I went to Brussels.

Worse was yet to come, I had the op and was dressed within an hour of coming out of the surgery, the bra I was wearing was an under wired bra… this was put back on me!! Consider… I had just had one of my breast cut open underneath! Of course I was not ‘with it’ so it was out of my control. Again in a taxi I went and off to the hotel for one night then home. Then in May I was back because the nipple correction failed too! (And is still not right) As I type this it is July not even a year since first surgery and I’m so discontent. My breast has developed capsular contracture again and the nipple correction has left me with kind of slits for nipples! I can no longer get a reply from the surgeon, either by phone or e-mail!

Tuesday 15th August:

For the last few days I have been re-searching a company called bodies beautiful in Prague, I think I might e-mail them.

Wednesday 16th August:

I received a lovely phone call from a lady called andrea at bodies beautiful she was so nice and friendly. She told me that the doctor had seen the photos I sent and said I really needed and should have had modulation. (I had taken my own photos prior to any surgery at all, so the doctor could see my original shape and size and my shape and size now with implants) .

Andrea took the time to explain everything I asked her and without hesitation! Instantly I knew I had made the right decision about mailing bodies beautiful. My conversation with Andrea was not rushed nor did I seem just a person at the end of the phone. In fact I almost felt I had known her for years!

I spoke to Andrea for a length of time discussing various options that I have and what should have been done in the very first instance by the first surgeon! Andrea also discussed how bodies beautiful operate and their level of care. Which I might add seems excellent! I’m already receiving care….. via my phone calls with Andrea.

Andrea spoke to me about the hotel options and about collection from the airport by one of their drivers. Andrea had also given me a price guide for the operation. This was my first telephone call from bodies beautiful and it has left me feeling very confident with them. Andrea had told me not to worry and to think about what we had spoken about and to mail bodies beautiful if I had any more questions and/or to book a date.

21st August:

I mailed bodies beautiful with a query this was…..if I go ahead with the modulation will I have implants? And will they be 565cc (which is what I have got) and will they go behind the muscle? I did not necessarily want 565cc again but wondered how I might look now without such large breasts. The mail I got the very same day was from a man called Nick. He said he has seen my mail and will speak to the surgeon tomorrow. It was very re-assuring that they mail you to acknowledge you question even if they can’t answer it straight away.

Nick asked me about the details of my implants, if I knew the make, type, and volume of them, and I was a bit surprised, as I was told nothing like this at the clinic in Brussels. Nick explained that they give me a certificate with all that information on, including serial numbers! This again reassured me even more.

24th August:

I have received a reply from Nick he has spoken to the surgeon. The surgeon has said it would not be a good idea to have the same size implants as they are heavy and even after a technique called ‘inside lifting’ my breast will droop again! The surgeon wanted me to be aware of that! If I wanted smaller implants then full modulation would need to be done because of the stretched skin, the excess would need to be taken away. But in reply to under the muscle? He is happy to do that if that’s what I want.

With this e-mail Nick very thoughtfully added his number in case I needed to talk to him. (I did)

25th August:

I contacted Nick by telephone but he was engaged and would call back.. he did within half an hour. We had a long discussion bout the size of implants, type of implants, and the whole procedure in fact. Nick was very caring and understanding of my worries and fears, Again the conversation was not rushed and Nick went over the same thing quiet a few times but he did not seem perturbed by it.

One of my questions was..”if I have the same size implants put in would I eventually be needing an uplift? Because the surgeon had said they will eventually droop! At this point I must admit I felt I have been through enough surgery and it is time I got it ‘right’ Nick agreed with me and said “we are here to help you get it right” we discussed the fact that I didn’t want this large size in the very first instance and if I wanted smaller he would speak with the surgeon and get back to me. Nothing seemed too much trouble I know I am making the right decision. Nick said he would report our conversation to the surgeon and come back to me with answers to my queries.

28th August:

Nick has e-mailed me the surgeon has said I can go smaller but full modulation would need to be done. This is more scarring but I feel I cannot go through any more operations after this one and I need to get it right! Nick rang me today and he explained in full everything we had been discussing via e-mail because I was beginning to get confused probably due to my anxiety. Nick helped me understand some of the technical jargon I didn’t understand and again he was very calm and caring.

30th August:

I have e-mailed Nick and have asked for all the booking details etc… I am so confident in my choice of smaller implants and full modulation. Bodies beautiful did not rush me or my decision nor did they make my decision for me. I would recommend bodies beautiful to any one interested in cosmetic surgery…. And that is before I have my operation!!

1st September:

Nick has e-mailed me with all the information I need to get the ‘ball rolling for the operation booking. He also sent details of a few hotels that bodies beautiful know and use.

For me so far, bodies beautiful have been excellent in the care and advice given. I have never felt so confident in people I have never met before! Bodies beautiful have shown me how they care and consider each individuals specific wants/needs.

9th September:

Have sent the deposit to bodies beautiful (£200)

10th September:

Have booked my flights and sent copies of them to bodies beautiful… have received confirmation and thanks from nick that those two e-mails have been received.

15th September:

I received an e-mail from Nick telling me all is ok with the operation date I have requested (23 October) and that nearer the time I will receive an itinerary breakdown of where I need to be at certain times to be picked up by the driver and taken to the clinic and back etc… also times the driver will collect us (me and Steve…hubby) from the airport and take us to the hotel. Nick sent an attachment with this mail which was some details on the hotels that he recommended.

Bodies Beautiful arranged everything for me, the collection (driver) the hotel, which I must add was 4 star and absolutely beautiful. All I had to do was book my flights, board the plane and arrive in Prague… it was totally stress free.

There has been a pause in my need to speak with nick at bodies beautiful and im just becoming keen to get there! All I have to wait for is about a week before I leave England for Prague I shall receive a full itinerary outlining my final details.

15th October:

Today I received the itinerary from Mirka (bodies beautiful) explaining in full all the details of my collection times. Nick very kindly called me to see that all was ok and to ask how I felt…I felt great!!

22nd October:

We arrived in Prague and as we walked out the doors the driver was there waiting for us. He helped us with our bags and drove us to the Park Hotel, he even booked us in! He told us that he would collect us in the morning to take us to the clinic; it was all very professional and clear. The hotel was beautiful.

23rd October:

This is it.. we waited in the hotel foyer as we were told at 8a.m. The driver arrived and off we went. When we (Steven and I) arrived at the clinic we had a consultation with the surgeon and were able to discuss any issues or worries we might have. The consultation was not rushed and the doctor made me feel very relaxed and comfortable. I had a series of pre-op tests such as blood test and an ecg . All went fine with these tests and I was kept in the ‘know’ throughout. All the nurses spoke very good English and all were very nice and caring.

No questions were too much trouble and all were answered in a reassuring way. Within 2 hours of arriving I was off to the ward to get prepared for the surgery, although I was anxious the nurses very quickly dissolved any of my fears. Whilst on the ward I met up with another girl who was having breast surgery and we got chatting it helped the time go by, we also had the use of a DVD player so we watched a film. At about 4 pm the nurse came in and prepared me for surgery and off I went.

I woke up during the night just to go to the toilet and the nurse was right beside me… it was excellent.

24th October:

I woke up feeling obviously tender and sore but with not much pain discomfort would be a better word. I have had pain relief throughout the night in my drip. (Which was still in) The nurse bought in some tea and toast for breakfast and helped me with it. With the nurses help I was able to go to the bathroom and brush my teeth and have a little wash. I slept on and off throughout the day and Steve arrived to see me at about three pm. The care given by every one was tremendous.

Dr Visek also showed me the implants he had taken out, as he could not even tell what make they were. This did make me wonder what the surgeon in Brussels was using, as those ones would have been forbidden / not certified to have been used here, in Prague, thank GOD I had them changed.

25th October:

I was feeling better by the day, today the surgeon came in and re-dressed my wounds and took out the drains that had been left in. (ouch that hurt) He said he was very pleased with my healing and I would be going topless in a month hahaha he was funny. All the staff here at the clinic are excellent and extremely caring, the ward I was on had three beds and the cleaners came in twice a day to clean and sterilize everything it was so clean! The doctor said I could go back to the hotel tomorrow and be with Steve I was very pleased about that but also felt I would miss out on the excellent care provided at the clinic. Nick rang today to see how I was…that was very reassuring.

26th October:

Again the surgeon came in and re-dressed my wounds and assured me all is healing very nicely, he also said I can go back to the hotel today. He is the most caring and reassuring surgeon/doctor I’ve met. After lunch (very nice food by the way) Steve arrived to take me to the hotel. The surgeon told me I would be collected in the morning from the hotel and brought back to have my dressings re-done. Even though I had left the clinic I was not forgotten. Nick rang the hotel that evening to see if all had gone ok.

27th October:

The driver arrived and took us back to the clinic where I had my dressings re-done and was given some painkillers and bandages for the weekend. The surgeon explained to Steve and me about how to do the dressings and arranged for us to be collected Monday morning for another check-up at the clinic. I was also given antibiotics as a precautionary measure against infection…. No chance of that everything was so clean even the hotel. Nick rang again that evening to see if all was ok with me. This is all very professional and very caring.

28th October:

Not much to report Steve done the dressings and I rested all day. However each day that passes I’m feeling so much better.

29th October:

Again Steve done the dressings and I rested.

30th October:

The driver arrived at 9 am and took me back to the clinic so the surgeon could see how I was and to re-do the dressings. He was very pleased with the results and could see that I am so much better. He requested I come back tomorrow before I fly home.

31st October:

Again the driver picked me up and took me to the clinic. The surgeon is very very happy with the results and re-dressed my wounds and said I’m fit to fly home. He gave me plenty of bandages, a disinfectant spray painkillers and some cream. The nurses gave me the telephone number to reach them and explained I could have the stitches removed here in England or back in Prague…I decided it would be better for me to come back to Prague as the surgeon knows his stitching technique.

The professional care given by all the nurses and surgeons is fantastic I would recommend this clinic to any one! Nothing is too much trouble.

Since arriving home on the 31st October I have not needed any other medical care, Nick has contacted me a couple of times to see how things are going, so I’m not forgotten! I have booked my flight back to Prague and am going on the 14th November to have my stitches removed. My healing state is fabulous my new boobs look great! I am up and about but not over doing anything!

The surgeon has seen pictures of my breasts since returning home via Internet and has mailed me saying they are healing very well.

12th October:

I received an e-mail today from Mirka at bodies beautiful, ensuring me I will be picked up at the airport and taken to the clinic to have my stitches removed.

14th October:

We (Steve and I) arrived in Prague at 10.30 and bodies beautiful had got their driver there and waiting for us. He drove us to the clinic and I had my stitches removed…. Which didn’t really hurt! The doctor and the nurses were very pleased to see me and agreed I was healing very well. They are all so caring. Steve and I spent two days in Prague sight seeing.

I would definitely recommend bodies beautiful to any of my friends /colleagues for any cosmetic surgery operation; in fact I have already done so. The clinic staff was exceptionally caring and kind, their English is brilliant and all of them just so nice. I never expected the high quality of care I received. From my first speaking on the phone with Andrea then with Nick I knew I had made the correct decision, Nick was fantastic and guided me all the way through it. Either on the phone or by e-mail. Nick made all the necessary arrangements so I had nothing to worry about except make the flight bookings and get to Prague. All the nurses and staff in the clinic had my best interest at heart and all were very understanding of any little worries I had. My surgery was performed by Dr Visek and he was outstanding, kind caring and always with a smile. He explained everything the surgery entailed I was constantly re-assured. The clinic itself is of high standards clean, safe and spacious. My results are perfect it’s been nearly five weeks since surgery and I am more than pleased. Nick has continued to keep in touch to see how I am Nick is a very reliable and caring man. Thank god I found bodies beautiful I am so pleased. As I am still healing I regularly send pictures of my healing state to bodies beautiful and all is going great.

Bodies beautiful are a very professional company I would recommend them to any one and very confidently! Any one considering plastic surgery in Prague feel free to contact me and listen to my success story. If you have any little doubts I can help put your mind at ease.

Many many thanks to all at bodies beautiful and of course to Dr Visek and his staff.
