Will the same surgeon who sees me and my photos prior to my visit, be the surgeon who sees me at the clinic, and operates on me?
If you come to us at BBC DIRECT the answer is yes, otherwise we are aware that it can be a case of seeing a different surgeon at all points.
When I have my quote, is this quote guaranteed? For example if when I have my personal consultation at the clinic, on the day of my operation, I am told I will need a different operation, and it will cost more than I had expected, what happens about that extra cost?
At BBC DIRECT if it is our fault we will make up the difference. We are aware, however that in other clinics during final consultations on the day of operation, patients are often told that a mistake has been made in the quote, and that an additional charge is made.
Will the quote for my surgery be in pounds sterling, or in the local currency of the country I am visiting?
At BBC DIRECT we quote for your cosmetic surgery in £’s, so that you know where you are! We also guarantee this price up to the date of your operation. That is why at BBC DIRECT we always advise you to get a fixed rate quote in £'s so that if you do have to pay in foreign currency, fluctuations in exchange rates will not affect the price you pay. We have been told that sometimes just a week prior to the operation date, the client has received a phone call asking for more money due to exchange rate increase, or even just a general price increase of the procedure.
What deposit will I need to pay for my procedure?
Paying a deposit is fair. And this usually paid when the operation date is booked. There can, of course be unforeseen circumstances such as missing a flight. If this happens BBC DIRECT will do their best to get you back on track, but beware there are many other places where you may have to pay 80-100% of the operation fee!
What if I need to change my date?
At BBC DIRECT you are our priority and if your circumstances change we will work with you to pick new dates. We know however that many clinics will charge a hefty administration fee for any alteration to timings, sometimes, 20-40% (or more) if changes are made within a few weeks of the operation date.
When will my balance be due?
When you come to us at BBC DIRECT you will pay your balance on your arrival. Other clinics have different requirements, and it is important that you find this out before you sign anything!
What does my operation fee include?
This sounds like a simple question, and it is when you come to BBC DIRECT however, failure to look into this properly anywhere else might cost you dearly. Here is a condensed list of what BBC DIRECT promise you:
consultations,
pre-op tests,
the general anaesthetic fee’s,
the operation, any implants needed,
medications during your whole stay and to bring home,
nights included at the clinic as standard – as medically needed,
check-ups,
post-operative garment(s),
post-operative packs to come home with,
re-operation if needed.
At the clinic, who will check the results of my surgery prior to my discharge, will my surgeon see me on the day of discharge back to my hotel or will it be his assistant or a nurse on duty?
At BBC DIRECT we are with you from the very beginning to the day you leave for home. Your surgeon will see you to check all is well following your operation. This might not be true in other clinics.
Is my duration of stay at the clinic, and my recovery period before I leave the clinic realistic ?
At BBC DIRECT we will not be hurried. If it is going to take a week for you to recover, then a week it is. Your health and recovery are our biggest concern. Some other clinics might offer miraculous looking turn around times, but don’t be fooled. Remember that some agents and clinics will offer you anything to get your business.
Where should I stay after my surgery?
At BBC DIRECT we always suggest that you stay in a hotel. Many other operators will offer apartments. We think this is a mistake. Experience has taught us that if a patient is travelling alone the comforts and service of a hotel make them feel less isolated, and offer any additional help that they need, such as room service, for example
If I need to see a surgeon or a nurse during my recovery period abroad, who do I call, and where do I go?
At BBC DIRECT we will give you contact number to use at any time day or night during your recovery period. Make sure when you choose any other clinic that you can call in the evening or weekend, believe it or not, this is not always standard! And we make sure that they will visit you if needed. Sadly we have heard of some cases where patients have had to travel some distance to be seen.
Where will I have my check-ups and my discharge examination?
With BBC DIRECT you will have your check ups where you had your op, with familiar faces in familiar surroundings. Sadly wth other clinics this is not always the case and patients have to travel to a different location miles away for their check ups.
Will I be issued with a fit to fly certificate?
Yes, BBC DIRECT will always make sure you have this, without it you will not be allowed to board!
What post-op information will I be given, and any post op-packs / medications etc.?
BBC DIRECT will take care of all of this and give you instructions about when and where to get any stitches removed. With BBC DIRECT we can even send a nurse to your home for stitch removal etc. but extra costs apply to this additional service. Not all clinics will do this and unless you know specifically who to contact you may be waiting a long time for a reply.
In the event that a re-operation is needed, who would I contact, and is there a time limit on a revisit.
OK let’s be pessimistic for a second, and imagine that something is not quite right. It happens and at BBC DIRECT we are there for you. Our service does not stop when you leave the clinic and in the unlikely event that you are unhappy with your results, we will work with you to find a solution. Not all clinics do this and in fact will often ‘wash their hands’ of you as soon as you leave the country. Check this out, because after care and concerns are vitally important.
