Gastric Banding Types

At the moment there are about 5 different manufacturers of banding in the world, eg. Austrian, French and American (Bio-Enterics company, Allergan™) and the Swedish (Johnson & Johnson) banding, i.e. SAGB (Swedish Adjustable Gastric Banding).

The differences in banding types are not only in their looks or price. There are two main characteristics which must be taken into consideration, therefore, technical knowledge of the device offered, is very important.

The two distinct technically different concepts of banding, are called:

  • "Low Pressure, High Volume"
  • “High Pressure, Low Volume”

What shall I receive for my money?

Our price for Gastric Banding treatment includes not only the operation itself, but also very in-depth pre-operative tests, which will confirm that you are the best candidate for this type of treatment.

Many different reasons for obesity demands different types of their solution. After our tests you will be sure that you are the right candidate for gastric banding and that the treatment shall be successful and helpful. Some types of obesity cannot be resolved by gastric banding but by other medical help.

  • Pre-operation tests needed for surgical intervention,
    - including detailed biochemical and haematological lab tests, ECG etc.
  • Gastro-fibric investigation of the stomach and duodenum.
  • Ultra-sound investigation of the abdominal cavity and X-ray if needed.
  • Pre-operation consultation with experts.
  • Consultation with surgeon specialist.
  • Internal Obesity & Diet tests and consultation.
  • Psychological - behavioural consultation.
  • Laparoscopic implanting of the Lap-Band by Johnson & Johnson™
  • Anaesthesia.
  • All medication.
  • Possibility to stay longer in clinic in case of need.
    - (usual stay is 3 nights in clinic).

Usual price of gastric banding adjustment procedures are in region of £100 - £150 in the UK.
