The Lap-Band

Of all weight loss surgeries the Lap-Band system is the least invasive.  Involving an adjustable silicon elastomer band that is surgically placed around the stomach, the quantity of food that it is possible to consume is restricted so that the patient  experiences a sense of fullness much earlier. As less calories are consumed, the body is  forced to draw on its fat reserves to get the energy it needs.  In the pursuit of a safe, stable and sustainable solution for permanent weight loss Lap-Banding, is an excellent solution for permanent weight loss. Minimally invasive this procedure does offer astounding results without the patient needing to undergo invasive  surgery by giving them  control over their weight.

In respect of a truly adjustable weight loss procedure the Lap-Band offers the possibility of adjustment, without undergoing further surgery.  The Lap-Band can be adjusted and inflated more or less, according to the patients specific needs, as part of regular follow up  The amount of food that it is possible for a patient to consume can be controlled by inflating or deflating the band in response to any specific circumstance such as illness, pregnancy etc.  

The Lap-Band is a fully reversible form of weight control and can be removed  surgically. This gives it a unique advantage of being the only available weight loss procedure at this time, that is reversible.
 
Note: It should be noted that the longer the period that a Lap-Band has been in fitted the higher the possibility that the anatomy of the area that the Lap-Band has occupied will retain the characteristics and function of the Lap-Band itself, and accordingly some form of restriction may remain even when the Lap-Band is removed.
